On 31 March 2025, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs Anette Kramme welcomed the Deputy Director of the National Agency for Social Protection under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Abruev for a high-level dialogue on social policy and international cooperation. The dialogue focused on Germany's international commitment to establishing and safeguarding resilient social protection systems.
The meeting brought together senior officials from the National Agency for Social Protection and German experts to share knowledge and discuss best practices in the field of social protection and social welfare. The discussion focused on the German social security system and the dialogue between trade unions and employers. The possibility of adapting measures relevant to the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan was explored. The main topics of discussion included strengthening the framework conditions for adequate social protection in various respects, from effective data protection in social services to the involvement of civil society actors in the dialogue between employers and trade unions and the responsible use of AI in social administration.
The meeting was an important step towards enhancing cooperation between Germany and Uzbekistan and underscored the common goal of improving social security and social protection in response to changing global economic, environmental and social challenges.
Parliamentary State Secretary Kramme made this statement: The cooperation between our countries shows that when we share our knowledge and experience, we can advance social reforms in the long term. In Uzbekistan, digital innovations and a more robust dialogue between trade unions and employers are helping to make the social system more crisis-proof. The most vulnerable groups in our societies are the main beneficiaries of such reforms.
Jamshid Abruev, Deputy Director of the National Agency for Social Protection under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan made the following statement: We firmly believe that the dialogue between our institutions can serve as a model for a meaningful, practice-oriented partnership. Germany's well-established social security system offers valuable insights and opportunities to work together. We look forward to further fruitful co-operation in this important area.
The exchange was made possible by Germany's Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development as part of the "Global Alliances for Social Protection - Uzbekistan" initiative, which is being implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. The initiative is an example of Germany's commitment to promoting international partnerships to bolster social security systems and promote sustainable development.
